About Lindy Bergin Conroe

Lindy Conroe portraitLindy Bergin Conroe was born to a Norwegian  mother and an Irish Father.  She was an army brat early on, living in Fort Hood,Texas ; Fort Dix, New Jersey; Fort Riley, Kansas ; and Fort Knox, Kentucky, finally ending up in Methuen, Massachusetts, when her father got a job in a nearby town.  After her mother died from leukemia when she was 13, her father remarried, and she remained in Methuen until she left for Bridgewater State College, in Massachusetts.  Originally torn between being an artist, a physical education teacher, or an English teacher, she finally chose English education. This led to a position as a junior high school teacher. After marrying and staying at home to raise her son and daughter, she attended the University of Rhode Island nights as she chipped away at an MA in English Literature. The endeavor took five years, but proved to be worthwhile when it led to a part time position at Dean College in Franklin, MA. This later morphed into 18 years of full-time teaching at Dean, as an assistant professor of English. As time went on, her focus changed from academics to counseling and therapy,  propelling  her to leave teaching and to earn an MSW from Boston University. This led to an exciting and totally new path, dominated by community social work, hospital and geriatric social work, community social work, and eventually an LICSW license (Licensed Independent Certified Social Worker) and a private practice.

Later, feeling the urge to create the equivalent of a ‘novel’ for children, with interesting characters and exciting plot twists, she wrote two children’s books: Rockafella Jones and the Hidden Treasure and Rockafella Jones and the Journey Home (each published by Blue Mustang Press). Both involve a mischievous fairy and a cadre of talking animals and were brought to life by the amazing artwork of Susanne Riette-Keith.

When not writing fiction, Lindy likes to fill her time with reading, writing poetry, creating acrylic, collage, and watercolor art, walking, kayaking, and spending time with her ten grandchildren.  She and her husband live outside of Boston.

Clearly Hidden, her soon-to-be-published adult mystery, will be released by Moonshine Cove Publishing in October, 2021.
